What I got: a brand new iphone and a big 'ol crush on Rick Steves.

Well. Sunday was me birthiversary

Yep. Got birthed and hitched on the same day.

Well, not the same day, exactly.
Two July 19ths. 23 years apart.

Jake got me an iphone for my birthday. Which is fun. I use it to play sudoku and try to best my 10-year-old son Ross' time on The Moron Test, since no one really calls me on it. I don't have a fantastic track record for actually carrying a phone on my person. Or hearing it ring from inside my purse.

Normally, you won't be able to ring me on my mobile. And don't bother leaving a message, cause I don't know how to retrieve them. I like texts, if I remember to check for them. But now that I have such fancy technology, which allows me to take videos of people picking their noses on the freeway, then send it to my blog, youtube, and email simultaneously, plus look at each person in my Ward's home from space (google maps on istake), I resolve to do better.

For our anniversary Jake got me ALL 80 EPISODES of Rick Steves' Europe. Jake says that he understands my attraction to Rick is purely physical, so he isn't threatened. Very much.

I know. Hubba. Look at him in that Members Only style jacket, leaning sexily on that column.

I have like all of Rick's books, so I think that means I am, in some not-so-circuitous fashion, helping to legalize marijuana, a cause dear to sweet little Ricky's heart.

I think I just have a thing for the bad boys.

(And geeks.)

Can't help it.
That's me and Jake at Versailles, with Rick's Paris 2007 guidebook under his arm. I loved that thing. When we got to the Louvre and found that we had left Rick back at the hotel, Jake went to the museum store, where he asked the American clerks if they carried any Rick. "Oh, you mean the bible?" they asked. But no luck. So Jake cabbed it WAY back down the Champs-Elysees, picked up Rick, and brought the Bible back to the Temple of Man, just for me.

What a nice boy, that Jake. I think I'll keep him around another 13 years, at least.

Do you think Rick has podcasts I can carry around with me on my iphone?

I'm gonna go and check that out.

You got an iphone?
You actually use your cell phone?
You like Rick Steves?
You hate Rick Steves?
You were there at my wedding?
You were there at my birth?

I am unfamiliar with this Rick. You must convert me at once.

Oh yes, Ricky has a podcast. You can have him with you at all times.

Love,
a fellow Steves admirer

Hey the other day your phone rang a time or two...remember? We had to tell you it was your phone ringing! :) Glad you had a great birthiversary!

I must ask - what were you thinking getting married on your birthday? I must be of the more selfish sort because I want my birthday to be only about me. Yeah, I know, the very definition of selfishness.

I, also completely notorious for not caryying my cell anywhere, have yet to part from my iphone in the two weeks we have been a couple. It's true love.

I got my hubby's Ipod touch when he got the Iphone. (Same thing without the phone.) I am loving Istake and I'm listening (again) to the Harry Potter series on it and loving The Mormon Channel on it and all the scriptures. Plus I play Peggle a lot and look at stuff in this Art Gallery app I found.
I must say, I don't think I've seen more than 30 seconds of Rick, but I am intrigued. Must learn more...

I'm pretty sure I was at your wedding/birthday - wasn't I? I can't remember now, but I'm nearly certain I was, can't imagine I would have missed it. The more I think about it, the more I think I was there. Wasn't I? See, I'm crazy. Enjoy your new phone and (belated) happy birthaversary.

I have an iPhone - love it! I really thought it was a silly thing before I had it, but now I think it is great fun.

I do use my phone, but I don't hear it ring in the car or from inside my purse.

I like Rick Steves, but, uh, not as much as you do, apparently.

I do not hate Rick Steves.

I was not there at your wedding, and I think I also missed your birth. Hey, you missed mine, too!

I am afraid of member's only jackets. Kim Jon and Ahmadinejad both wear member's only jackets!

Love travel books of all shapes and sizes. Love Rick, also love Open road. Must make detailed itineraries for all days of our vacations and then take husband on what he fondly calls "the forced march."
