The post about the photo of me in my swimsuit. Only, without the photo.

Ok.

So I was going to post a photo of me lying on the beach here in Carlsbad (although it was really Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, cause why go anywhere else, when they can sell you Dove ice cream bars 30 feet from your beach chair?) whilst reading my book, and say something witty and trite about being much too busy to blog.

In the photo I am wearing my huge black straw hat that I like to think screams 'Old Hollywood', but Jake insists only bellers 'irretrievably ridiculous.' (He didn't say irretrievably.) Is a mystery, but when I wear it, people think I am someone named Great Aunt Ina from Hoboken. Anyhow, with it's radius like that of a patio table umbrella, it is very sun-safe. I like accessorize it with my sunblock no. 70, and when I am 70 but have the lovely, luminous skin of a 65-year-old, who's gonna be laughin' at this hat?

Jake.

That's right.

He'll still be laughing.

And maybe you? If you could see the photo?

But I am much too busy lying here on my back, recovering from the lovely but filling brunch we had up at the Four Seasons, to figure out how to get photos from my camera to Jake's laptop. Plus, my hands are pretty sticky from eating this delightful apple fritter from Donuts #2 in Encinitas. You know how it is.

Also, it occurs to me that if you saw the photo, you might be able to see the title of the book I am reading, and I can't tell you that. It is a secret.

Okay, I'll give you some hints:
1. it is not Absolom, Absalom,
and
2. I have already read it.

Although, I didn't know I'd already read it, because this isn't the sort of book I'll cop to on Shelfari, so I forgot about it, and spent 20 cents on it at the Friends-of-the-Cardiff-by-the-Sea-Library Book Nook. Jake says I need a secret Shelfari for just this sort of embarrassing chick lit problem.

P.S. Look at these little Cole Haan/Nike Air beauties. I picked them up for 60% off this morning at the outlet mall. I really like the outlet mall.

Do you have any books you like but do not wish to claim? Please leave their titles in the comments section, anonymously, if you please.

Twilight. But I don't care who knows it. Yes I do. Oh, I can't decide.

I so fanflipping happy that you posted...I watched Lost in Austen last night because of you! I really liked it A LOT...the darcy/water scene? I almost fell off the sofa.
From laughter.

I officially withdraw my Twilight submission now.

You're killin' me. You really are.

Now for a few recommendations you maybe already know about? (My older sister used to live right off Birmingham (Cardiff) just up the street from
V.G.'s -- they have the best donuts. Plus, they made my wedding cake (that I didn't want but my sister insisted) with alcoholic frosting.

And now, for the absolute best place to eat breakfast,
Pipes Cafe. It's right by the shell shaped Cardiff library and shell shaped dental office that Doug wants to buy.
Order the French Toast, Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice AND the Mexican Hot Chocolate from outside. Yes, you'll have a major sugar crash later, but it'll be worth it.

*sigh*
** double sigh**

I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now. (And it's only 10am. It's on your head.)

Europe 101: History, Art and Culture for the Traveler by Rick Steves. Jake just got me this circa 1985 classic for 50 cents at the thrift store in Encinitas. Is not embarrassing, except that I have a thing for Rick, which is embarrassing.

Emily, we went to pipes just before we went to the library. And we loved the round dental clinic.

Will try the donuts. Tomorrow, most likely.

Oh, I'll own up to it. I love Julie Garwood. My favorite is "The Bride." A full-blown romance with a heroine named Jamie and a to-die-for Scottish highlander running around in a kilt and swinging a sword. Love it! (Although there are some pages ripped out here and there - on purpose.) And my hubby laughs at it.

Enjoy the sun!

Anything by Sophie Kinsella. I always feel like I'm wasting my reading time and should be reading Dicken's or something else respectable but sometimes I just can't resist.

I am only human.

I have so many ridiculous book titles, most of them only one name such as; Emily, Nicole, Margaret, JoAnna...yes, all teen romance books about young women who have to choose between two beaux. Fascinating stuff, I tell ya. And tremendously embarrasing. But hey---they're clean which is more than I can say for many other books so I'm keepin 'em.

I have a few but I'm too embarrassed to even post them anonymously.

Can't wait to see the photo of you in your swim suit and old lady sombrero.

I don't want to talk about my guilty-pleasure books but I do want to talk about those spankin shoes.

I was perfectly happy without having those particular shoes until 3 minutes ago. Misery.

want.

I read the entire Gossip Girl series of books. Is total teenage pornography and I am an adult. No, I do not read adult pornography.

I just read Pillars of the Earth last week. I had read it in college, like 15 years ago. I forgot that it is pretty bad. The storyline is great without the "love" scenes. OOps. I better go read my Ensign.
