Hey you. Please help me dress my kid.

So, we are taking family pictures with a new-to-us photographer on Monday morning. Which is torture, and I'll likely become murderous, so I don't do it very often. Anyhow, I think I have everyone's outfit picked out,  but one: Jane.

Choice #1

Choice #2

What? You think the skirt in choice #2 looks like my sister's junior prom dress from 1993? Er, it could be. You are clearly a very perceptive (wo)man. You see, if you hoard stuff long enough, you can use it again. Maybe. If the people who read your blog pick it.

Being a pack rat is really a fantastic idea. I'm not sure why it gets such a bad rap.

So be honest. Tell me if it looks like I rigged up my only female offspring in cast-off formal wear. The rest of us will all be in black, red, white, and gray. And Justin Timberlake's jeans. So that we will look like hot tamales.

And by we, I mean, me. O'course.

So,   #1 0r #2 for Jane? Or should I spend tomorrow afternoon shopping?

Let's be real here, will the skirt even show? I mean--the top is the same, right? And if you do the stylish black and white thing a la Martin('s)then the skirts are looking pretty much the same, anyway. BTW, the pack rat thing is where it's at. If not, I'm totally out of style and in more ways than one. :)

I like the red, but honestly, the second picture wouldn't link to a larger one like the first one did, so I couldn't see enough of the detail to appreciate it. I love the embroidery on both, but red is my favorite color and it makes your Little Miss look spunky and sassy. If that's the look you're going for.

Put a check in box #1 for me. :)

I think #2 is adorable, but if you're wearing jeans, I might go with #1 since it seems a tad more casual. I'm sure you appreciate expert advice from a total stranger. If you saw how I dress, you'd probably push delete quick.

I agree with the {diapers} lady..with jeans- the red would probably be best. The "prom" dress is adorbale though!

I'm like Sue Q. I couldn't enlarge the second picture and couldn't ssee enough detail. So, I go with the first.

Fantastic! I love that you recycled my prom skirt (You didn't want to use the sheath dress, I see)! However, I vote for skirt #1 with a light pink or white shirt under the black sweater. Or, if you go the #2 route, she needs to lose the sweater and get a collared white or red or pink or any fun color shirt. Good luck not getting murderous at the mall tomorrow...

While #2 is adorable, I agree with most so far in voting for number one. Bit more casual.

But I absolutely applaud your creativity and ingenuity! Major kudos coming your way. It'd be great for church - especially Christmas!

Okay, your comments have clarified things a bit. I think I'll save the prom skirt for Church. Which is of course where all 15 year old prom dresses belong. I don't know what I was thinking. I might go back to the mall to find something else to go with the red skirt. The black just doesn't look so great.

I'm really not very good at this, people. Thank You!

Love the prom skirt though - just too dressy for other people in jeans. Sounds like a cute color combo - good luck!

I'm sad I didn't comment earlier, though I read this post a while ago, since you've been convinced one way.

I just wanted to say that I think I might be clueless like you becuase I was kinda thinking: JT jeans = extremely cute, 15 year old prom dress = extremely cute. They totally match!!!

I vote for #1, but regardless DO NOT go shopping. We're getting family pictures next week, too and I spent all day yesterday buying all sorts of potential combinations. Then I spent 2 hours today returning 2/3 of it, because, face it, dragging your kids clothes shopping will drive you to suicide. Or maybe just my kids.

Why are family pictures so stressful? Have done one forever - this is why!

I vote for #1 though. I think you've already decided, but I think the more color on kids, the better. Hope everyone smiles just right :)

Hmmm. Tough choice as I think they are both cute, but I'm leaning more towards #1. But can we talk about the big floppy hair bow? Maybe a pretty hairband or a nice barrette?

But what do I know - I have 3 boys and I've never put one of them in a big floppy hair bow....

Kelly I love either! She looks so darling in either one!

So did ya know Wendy is my cousin? Huh? Didya? Huh? Well, she is. And you're really gonna like her. Cause she's really really super cool and funny.

Oh, and do me this favor...make sure you ask her when she's doing a session IN JAPAN!!!!????!!!!!

'Cause then maybe she'll give in to all the pressure and COME HERE NEXT!!!!

Oh, and go with the color. Wendy says so.

Woo hoo! I'm going to Coldplay tomorrow! (I know...on a school night! gasp!) I had to send an email to all the RS ladies and see if anyone was willing and able to put my kids to bed.
A Coldplay fan responded with an "Of course, you lucky lady!"
I love church ladies.

I got a picture of a friend's family and they all dressed in jeans and black leather motorcycle looking like jackets. Sounds weird but it was WAAAAAY CUTE!
