Boss-Tweed-style campaign promises: fulfilled! Free PRADA for you!

So, on Somebody's first couple of trips to Chinatown in NYC,  she might have bought too many purses.

If she did, it wasn't her fault.

When some shifty-eyed asian man muttering "Coach, Prada, Gucci" in a breathy, anxious voice beckons, she follows, pied-piper-style, even though she feels like she's in the first scene of a Law & Order episode. Which always ends with a dead body. Anyhow, as she climbed those steep and rickety (and sometimes disturbingly narrow) turn-of-the-century stairs, trying not to touch the filthy, old gum decorated walls, and followed the fellow into a windowless room that reeked of plastic (NOT fine I-talian leather, mind you), she got hyped up on fear and adrenaline, and bought as many cute and cheapy purses as would fit in her luggage. Once, she bought cheapy luggage in which to carry them home.

Anyhow, Somebody has a few purses that she hasn't ever used. And she told me I could give one away! This coppery-colored Prada number! To you! If you win!

So, leave me a comment. You can leave one comment per post until next Wednesday, when I will pick a winner! That's it!

P.S. I thought Adam Lambert's "One" last night was scary and yicky. And Simon's smug grinning over it was unattractive. Adam has some star quality, but I don't like the girly-man vibe, nor the screaming and tongue-wiggling. Maybe I'm too old to appreciate it all? Do you like him? Please 'splain. Anyhow, at the beginning of the season, I was like, oh, Danny-boy, but now I'm all about Kris. I even voted last night. Just to show you I'm serious about my American Idol (even though is first season since Kelly Clarkson that I've watched)

What have you got in your TIVO? I'm watching The Office, Charles Dickens on Masterpiece (couldn't wait for my Sunday night Little Dorrit fix, but now she's over), Rick Steves' Europe (I love that pot-smokin' nerd), 30 Rock, House Hunters International, Idol, and The Unusuals. (You should check it out before it gets cancelled.)

Am I missing anything important? (Is too late to figure out what is going on with LOST. Don't try to talk me into it.)

Oh, I dream of going to NYC and getting sucked into buying too many knock-off purses. Send some love my way, please!

Been a fan/reader/lurker for a while and voted for you to win. Even convinced my friends to vote.

I've only been to NYC once, and for one day. There was no time to follow shifty-eyed men into plastic scented warehouses to get my knock-off purse fix. Don't you feel sorry for me?? I had to buy my purse at Kohl's and am in desperate need of something much more stylish.

Congrats again on the win!

Mama-Face said...

adam IS yick, but I stopped caring long ago when it became obvious he was "the" one. Maybe the yick factor will end up knocking him out though. Maybe people who actually vote won't vote for him. Make sure you don't vote for him a lot.

SYTYCD-starts May 21. I have a hidden dancer somewhere inside of me.

Oh, and I love The Office. It's the only thing I watch. (thank you, Hulu.)

And yes I realize this doesn't get me two entries. ;) Unless, of course, you're feeling generous.

When I lived overseas, I saw affordable designer bags all the time with names like Goochi and Coch. I kid you not. But me likey Prada, no matter if it comes off the back of a truck!

My TiVo...how I love it. I, too, love the Dickens series on MT. Any MT is heaven for me. I have CSI original, The Office, The Closer, Lost, and 30 Rock in the lineup right now.

I'm right with you on Lost. The Office, 30Rock, Ghostwhisperer, Smallville (yeah, I know), Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, Clean House, Psyche, Monk, House, 24, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Dollhouse and I think we finally polished off the last of the Angel reruns . .

OH!!!! And, Any Dream Will Do! Love you Lee Mead!!!!!

Is beautiful. Is my dream purse. I might need to go lie down now. Is good reason!

Came over from MMB.
I can't tell you what's on my TiVo because I don't have one. :(
Can I still win the purse?

Mia said...

how much fun is this? I have always wanted a Prada! Sorry but I don't watch Americal Idol but on my tivo I have Office, Young and the Restless (i know I'm pathetic) and Olivia for my boys!

Wendy Hansen said...

Yes Kelly, I am totally anti tongue wiggling Adam, he scares me too.

I'm also a Danny boy to Kris switcheroo and also tried to vote for the 1st time last night. I hope my little Kris doesn't get booted tonight.

My Tivo looks much like yours, and again, I totally agree on lost, it is too late for us.

Wonder Woman said...

Not digging Adam. Everything he does feels like a Broadway performance. Don't like the tongue-wiggling. Just don't like him. Boy has some pipes, but I still don't like him.

I've loved Kris almost from the beginning. I almost voted last night, but decided I would be okay with him going home. At this point, I think he's most likely going to get a contract, and I think it would be better if it wasn't AI controlled. (Think: Daughtry) So even though he's my fave, I'd be okay with him going home.

Though after last night's performances, I think it'll be Danny.

And I want a new purse. Like a baby wants its momma.

No tivo here. Just Fringe on Hulu, every other week when we remember to watch it. Only is kinda starting to creep me out a little, but what am i supposed to watch with ER over?

Not a big bag gal, but that one rocks.

I've been voting Kris for a while now, not loving danny or adam, they sing well, but not what i like to listen to-glad there are more fans, hope he makes the finals.

dvr is full of prisonbreak, 24, survivor, barefoot contessa, everyday italian and namaste (that how you spell that?)

pan x 8 said...

I love how the purse says Prada on it and the tag says Vani! hehehe..

I don't DVR anymore because my shows were cancelled: Lipstick Jungle, The Hills (I get on on demand), and Heroes is not that interesting anymore! Greys lost me and so did Private Practice...

maybe this was an overshare!! ;p

Barbaloot said...

Listen-it's possible that you were too old to like Adam Lambert at the age of 12. I just don't get that guy's appeal?

So The Unusuals is good, eh? I've kinda wanted to check it out...but haven't yet. I have to admit, my main draw to it is Amber Tamblyn and that fact that her dad was Riff on West Side Story and Gideon on 7 Brides. Love him!

Jenni said...

Super cute purse! So I am with you on the Adam vibe...the tongue thing is just too much. He does sound good and has the star quality, but I wish he wouldn't win. I also LOVE Kris...so good! On my DVR at the moment I have Office, Grey's, Bachelorette (in a few weeks--maybe next?), House Hunters (local), Gossip Girl, 30 Rock, and a bunch other shows I can't think of right now. I have seen the Unusuals--not bad, but agreed...on it's way to cancellation!

Tivo? Hulu? I feel like I've been out of the country for decades and I'm just coming back to earth, and everyone's speaking a new earth dialect. Maybe aliens took me. Who knows? But I still remember Prada, and even if it is a knock off, I'd love a new storage facility for all my junkie junk!

Melanie Jacobson said...

Yeah, Adam and the girly man vibe doesn't work for me when they're trying to package him as a sex symbol.

And I love Better Off Ted right now. You can catch up on Hulu. It's a comedy for nerds.

I've never been to NYC. It's a dream. My cousin lived there and tells me about it all the time. I dream.
Your purse collection makes me a little envious. Please share the joy with ME!!!

I want in! My wardrobe lacks Prada and is needing to be bumped up from frump to fun-o! Even if from shifty China man area, please! I voted many times, even if not so on the up... I found a way to show the love baby!

Jolene said...

have not watched American Idol since kelly clarkson. Love Amazing Race but it is over. Just Office, 30 rock, Ace of Cakes and the Housewives of whatever city (don't tell anyone) - so bad. If I win the bag, I will come pick it up!

Sinclair said...

I like Adam, but I'm with you on being tired of the screamy high notes and wagging tongue and Billy Idol sneer. He will certainly have a long and large career now, regardless of win or lose. Kris is a sweetheart, and I predicted him in the top 4 right from the beginning. Personally, I would have liked to see a Kris and Danny face-off at the end. I must confess, I have not voted once this season, so I do not get to complain about the outcome.

I am a fan of Rick Steves and his destinations.

(You don't have to give me an entry for the bag because I am not into the labels...I just like your blog and wanted to comment)

Julie said...

Tivo - NCIS, 48 hours hard evidence, Y&R (hanging my head in shame) and American Idol.
Don't know that we can be friends though Kelly because you're a trader and I know deep down in my gut that YOU are to blame for my Danny getting kicked off tonight...that purse might help our friendship though ;)

First let me say, cute purse and I am in need of a new one! Next let me say that no one other than those I live with, shall ever know the complete list on my Tivo. (Could be mistaken as a reality obsessed 18yr old's list) Lastly Kris always has been and continues to be my one true LOVE. I probably voted for him 80 times last night. (sound a little too much like a reality obsessed 18 yr old?) I am sooo not into Adams girlish screams! Never been into the Emo thing. Teetering on the creepy side for me.

Natalie said...

Ooo, I'm lovin' that purse. What a great color and shape. Here's hopin'!
I'm a tv lover. I voted for Kris for every member of my family cuz I really like him and REALLY DON'T like Adam. Really don't see why people like him (other than the fact that he looks exactly like Ewen McGregor with black hair- doesn't he?!) Not a fan of the voice at all, though. I can't fast-forward his performances fast enough before my ears start to bleed. I really liked Matt Giraud too, (I seem to have a thing for piano players :)but alas...
I'm a lover of the Office, 30 Rock, Lost, How I Met Your Mother (cuz Doogie Howser is one of the funniest people on the planet), House (I LOVE House!), old Friends episodes...
on and on...
xo!

I'm thinking if you got out of the plastic scented warehouse alive, you should get to keep all your purses.

But if you insist on giving one away, that one is the bomb!

My DVR is full of Deadliest Catch, Law and Order, Glenn Beck, and The Office.

Chelle said...

It's a beautiful purse, I love it!
Have no TiVO, but if I did it would definitely have Big Bang Theory and The Office taking up all it's memory.

Hailey said...

I'm embarrassed to list my Tivo list here, but know that I am even prepared and have "tube storage" saved up for the summer. Unfortunately, I gave up on Idol years ago. Too much of the same. I'd be lost without LOST, though.

The purse is quite fabulous, as are you!

Lizzie said...

I think that Adam has start quailty. He is an entertainer. But i agree, Kris was much better last night.

As for tivo-Grey's anatomy, the office (of course), House Hunters Int and US-although they are new to me :) and so you think you can dance and bachelorette (with Jillian) starts soon-those will pick up since biggest loser just ended

Excuse me? I need that Prada purse like I need air.

1. I love the Unusuals, too
2. Loved little Dorrit, but also excited for Kenneth Branaugh's turn on Masterpiece Mystery!
3. Adam Lambert is just creepy. No, I don't like him, and I caught some Hades for saying so a few weeks ago.
4. I'm with everyone else: So You Think You Can Dance is about to come on and I am SO EXCITED.

Besos!

Rick Steves is a total Pot head! I love 'em!

I MUST have that purse! Do you feel the force being used on you? Cuz I totally am.

Free purse for me? Please--migraine friend?

Lindsay said...

Ooh! I'm already imagining all the stuff I can lose in the depths of that big purse. Way more stylin’ than the diaper bags I've been toting around. Little Dorrit was really well done. Did you recognize Darcy from Pride and Prejudice?

Laurie LC Lewis said...

This is my first visit and I think I'll be a regular! Okay, so I totally agree on the Adam Lambert mania. He has a vocal talent, but I can't appreciate how he employs it. And why did that singer have his name emblazoned on her cape? Hmmmm. . . Dya think there's some bias here?

AS for NYC stories, my daughter-in-law took me down some crazy back alleys to a place where they gave $5 manicures and $10 pedis. We huddled together in case there was some black market thing going on in the back. Very interesting. . .

colette said...

I love that purse! And it's even better because it came from a shifty eyed man!! And for the life of me, the few times I've been to NYC I haven't found the shifty eyed man. I think the DeLange's aren't quite as adventurous as the Laytons!

Joni said...

I love that purse!

My DVR is full of Criminal Minds, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters and Prison Break.....It's so embarrassing to admit that I'm addicted to tham many shows!!!

Well.. all I really want from you is that leather suitcase of yours. Put me in your will... however.. another purse would be great. I currently have 6 purses in my car, and 2 of them are inside another one. I never know just what I'm going to need. All of the purses are full.. sign of a sick mind???

Sarah said...

I'm with you, didn't get Adam's vibe at all AND he was a little too 'dramatic' for me. He can rock it out though...
On my DVR - "The Big Bang Theory" which is the funniest show on TV.

Joele and Matt said...

I totally loved going to the big NYC and getting me some awesome "Gucci" watches. I think I now need me a nice "Prada" purse!

Jen said...

Never been to NYC but dream of going there and finding purses in hidden alleys! I like Kris too but can't vote because I'm in Canada, eh! Saw the beginning of the Unusuals last night and laughed and laughed...but sadly, yes, it will most likely be cancelled. Love "The Office" but I'm only on season 2. I've given up on Lost as well...

Thanks for the giveaway! I'm glad she bought too many. Keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Amber said...

I am so with you on the American Idol comments....sigh, maybe we are getting old?!? Anyhoo - at the beginning I was all for Danny, but now Kris is the one I am rooting for. Maybe I will have to vote this week to see if Matt can be stopped :) Glad to see that you won the blog contest - I did manage to vote for that!

My TIVO (actually DVR) is my 1st or 2nd favorite technological possession. My cute daughter couldn't wait to watch the season finally of "Greys" last night and turned it on right as it started.
I admit, I kinda freaked out and said we had to wait so we weren't wasting so much time at the end. She has been away at college and didn't understand the TV etiquette around here I guess.

Since I spent the better part of my day yesterday mopping up tiny listerine footprints throughout the entire house, and got a speeding ticket whilst doing my VT, I totally deserve this knock off purse. Plus, was just my birthday.

Also, thanks for sharing your hilarity with me and letting me live vicariously through your fab trips and concert excursions. Your blog has long been promoted to my fave.

For me, The Office and 30 Rock.

Don't worry about the purse for me. I have one I actually LOVE right now, which is a rarity. My search for the perfect purse is like the holy grail for me.

As far as American Idol goes, I have to say I am a huge Adam fan. I think he's just fabulous. He is so comfortable and confident on the stage and I think he's got a really unique quality. As for the girly thing, I've been watching him for weeks and I had no clue until I heard something on a website that he might be gay. That's unusual because I have very sensitive gay-dar that usually picks them out pretty quickly. I had Clay Aiken pegged in 2.3 seconds.

I did like Danny a lot, but I am totally mystified about Kris. I just don't get him at all. Seems like a nice guy, but he totally doesn't seem like a very good singer at all. He just doesn't have that spark or that charisma you would expect. I seriously thought he would have gone before many of the others. I'm totally gonna barf if he wins.

I guess that's what makes it worth watching. That little bit of suspense at the end.

Unknown said...

Beautiful purse! So, Adam, yeah he is a little scary but I have to admit that I am drawn to him in some way. My husband thinks just like you, he doesn't like the high pitched screams and the tongue thing, but he did admit that he sounded great when he sang normal. He is a little weird. I don't want to vote for either.

Wendy Phelps said...

Sooo sad about Danny. I think most of Danny's votes would go to Chris. When Adam is trying to look like a boy, I think he is actually cute. But most of the time...

Do I still get to try, even though I'm still sporting my favorite oh-so-fab Coach Chinatown special? I am definately of the mindset that one cannot actually own TOO MANY purses. If I could buy out an entire crate-like thingy straight off a freighter from the Xiang-Prada province of China, I would.
